In Case of Storms
Chapter 1: In Case of Storms documents my children and I as we improvise gestures that bring us into physical contact with one another, testing our equilibrium. In these dramatically lit works, the mother’s body is transformed into new matter, disappearing and reappearing as natural phenomena—water and ice in states of flux—exploring the negotiation between these fluid bodies.
"The mother’s body functions as the ground/soil/armature for the child to come into being."

The sculpture In Between is made of intersecting places of white acrylic and black aluminum. This sculpture expands on notions of presence and absence through shifts in surface and opacity, reflecting the ever-evolving dynamics of the mother/child relationship.
