MOTHERGROUND
Video Installation/Installation vidéo
Full Video Length: 10:00
2024
The video installation MOTHERGROUND immerses viewers as they walk through a vast wall covered with glacial forms, enveloping them within a pulsating red interior space. The projected film serves as a metanarrative of my children and I performing through play, where incongruous actions are interwoven with suspended moments of reverie. The merging and dissolution of our bodies act as the score for this improvised choreography.
A reversal of the figure-ground relationship takes shape through the varying patterns of our costumes collaged against the environment, the pulses of strobe lighting that fragment the image, and the disorienting perspectives. Within this experimental piece, the universality of these relational bonds becomes fluid and interchangeable, lingering in the simultaneity of our fractured and interconnected selves.
